SMART opens to the public this week on August 25th.  Through Labor Day, prices will be 50% off which means that it’s a great time to check out this new method of transportation and solution to our traffic problems.  The schedule can be found here -  http://sonomamarintrain.org/schedules-fares  And by the way, a day trip to Santa Rosa for some wine tasting is going to cost you $19 round trip, which is technically less expensive than paying for a Lyft after several glasses of wine.

In other news….  Did you see the solar eclipse today?  Were you lucky enough to be in the path of totality?  Factoid: The beautiful symmetry of a total solar eclipse happens because—by pure chance—the sun is 400 times larger than the moon but is also 400 times farther from Earth, making the two bodies appear the exact same size in the sky.  Super cool.

There’s a lot of terrible news out there in our world right now.  Hate, distrust and fear manifesting itself in so many ways. It’s disgusting and frightening and often, all we can do is control the way we show up in the world.  So, today’s memo is just a chance to say “thank you” to all of you out there.  Thank you for showing up every day to be the best REALTOR you can be.  I know that this real estate community, regardless of our politics, goes out into the world to do a good job for our clients, our companies, our colleagues and our County.  We act in service and give generously with the intention that we leave the world a better place each and every day.

A friend said that he believes that we naturally elevate to the company we keep. Work with smarter people, choose friends who you respect and are in awe of for their amazingness, and train with people who are stronger.  Despite what’s happening in the world, I hope we all remember who we are, choose the company that we keep and operate out of love.

Do you remember Jim Carrey’s commencement speech at Maharishi University School of Management?  It’s been watched over 10 million times.  Here’s a link if you’re interested.  Just a little of his levity, inspiration and perspective.  https://www.mum.edu/whats-happening/graduation-2014/full-jim-carrey-address-video-and-transcript/
